Reel Outlook is published for adults in Great Britain who want to know who they are dealing with before they open a gambling account. We are independent of every operator we write about, and we are funded by commission from some of them. Both of those things are true at once, and this page explains how we hold them together.
Where the name comes from
A reel is the most recognisable object in a casino lobby and the least understood. An outlook is a view taken from a distance. The site exists in the gap between the two: close enough to the market to describe it accurately, far enough back to be useful rather than promotional.
What we actually do
We take a small number of casino brands available to players in Great Britain and establish, from the Gambling Commission's public register, which company holds the operating licence, what that licence permits, and how long it has been in place. We then look at each brand's own site as a first-time visitor would, note what is visible before registration, and score the brands against four published pillars.
The result is a short comparison rather than a directory. We would rather cover five brands with facts we have checked than fifty with figures we have copied.
What we deliberately do not do
- We do not offer gambling. No stakes, no deposits, no games, no accounts, no customer funds. Reel Outlook holds no gambling licence because it does not need one.
- We do not publish welcome offer figures. Promotions change without notice and vary between accounts. Quoting them accurately for long is not possible, so we send readers to the operator's own terms instead.
- We do not invent evidence. If we cannot confirm a detail from the regulator's register or an operator's own published pages, it does not appear. That is why some comparison fields are shorter than you might expect.
- We do not collect reader ratings. A review count is easy to display and impossible to audit. Our scores are our own opinion and are labelled as such.
- We do not speak for anyone else. We have no connection to the Gambling Commission, GAMSTOP, GamCare or GambleAware, and no operator has any say in our editorial.
How the site is paid for
Reel Outlook is an affiliate publisher. When a reader follows one of our outbound links and opens an account, the operator may pay us a commission. Those arrangements fund the research and hosting behind the site. They are also the reason we publish our scoring pillars openly: if you can see the criteria, you can judge whether the ranking follows them. The limits of what we can tell you
A comparison site can tell you which company is licensed, what a licence obliges an operator to do, and what a site looks like on a given day. It cannot tell you whether gambling is a sensible use of your money, and it cannot predict your experience of any operator. Casino games are built to return less than they take over time. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to gamble, and if you are under 18 nothing here is for you.
